Harris racing his arch-rival, Jim Murphy who was also sitting
in the #2 spot in championship points.
Harris got a huge jump
(0.068 to 0.131) leaving Murphy to play catch-up.
Harris continued to improve running
a 5.757 at 259.66 moving him to the semis. Murphy starting hurting
parts on the top end and shut off to a 5.859 at 224.58.

Jimi Young would determine who would meet Bartone in the final.
Harris was away first
and never looked back.
At the other
end it was Harris with a 5.724 at 257.43. Young called it quits
with a slowing 5.908 at 201.67.

The TF final was an epic match
up. Defending champion Harris and the rocket ship of Tony Bartone
who ran a stunning 5.566 at 263.41 in round one and was coming
off a 5.648 at 248.89 win over Rick McGee in the semis. Harris
carded a 5.724 at 257.43 in his semi win over Jim Young.
Harris was out first
(.075 to .108) and that would be just enough.
In the quickest TF race in history
Harris got the narrowest of wins on a holeshot. His 5.725 at
255.73 nipped Bartone's quicker and much faster 5.693 and a record
269.29.
