There's a new Sheriff
in town
Las Vegas Motor Speedway: At
an early season test session the torch was officially passed
from father to son when Brett Harris successfully completed enough
seat time to comfortably compete at the Goodguys 46th March Meet
at Bakersfield (March 11-13).
With the steadfast
Utah Posse on hand, Harris gets ready for his first run... a
900 foot pass.
Rayce backs Brett up
from his burnout.
Jack Harris, in his new role
as Crew Chief, is the starting line half of the backup team.
Great
shot of the track just as Brett hits the throttle.
Jack
and Brett give their patented thumbs up after the run.

of "the Posse" kick back before the second test. Brian Losness-Nitrophoto Mortorsports
Later in the afternoon
they came back for Brett's first full pass.
In his new roll as Crew
Chief, Jack moves Brett into the staging beams.
Even
with a "soft" tune-up the car yanks the front end at
the hit.
Right down the
groove, Harris cards his first five second run and first over
250. Brian Losness-Nitrophoto Mortorsports
Needless to say, the
crew was happy with that one!
NHRA Top Fuel driver Andrew Cowin
took some time from his testing to visit with Jack and check
out the seat of Nitro Thunder. When all was said and done, Cowin
he likes his engine behind him.
The third
pass came after the sun went down - nitro at night.

It was over 6 hours between sessions
so after the car was ready, the crews did what they could to
beat the heat and relax - like taking a nap.
The next day the team made one
more run just to get Brett more seat time.
Jack gives the injector a whack
telling Brett he's good to go. Rayce pulls the idle plug from
the other side of the hat.
Check out the bite and
wrap on the tires.
Sunday morning some friends of
Gerry Steiner stopped by. Rudi and Wolfgang Schofer and Gittli
Koller are form Germany. They have a Top Methanol Dragster and
were the 2002 European Champions.
